Destress.

By on February 25, 2017

This week gonna be my last week in Black Sea Region. I am quite sad but there are a lot of another thing need to be done in my second home, Cairo & then Malaysia keep calling me. My sister always ask me “Tak reti-reti nak balik Malaysia ke? (Don’t you want to come back to Malaysia?)”

She then angry at me a bit because I told her that I want to be an expat, I will live oversea and settle down anywhere outside Malaysia haha. I don’t mind if my parents want to stay with me, I will bring them too. No, I am not joking 😉

Actually last week I had my amazing Black Sea Journey! I will blog about it soon (bila turun wahyu Hehe). This post I want to write to my BFF since forever, AK because I know that AK has a really tough time right now. I already speak to AK’s mom and I found how hard the situation is. Yeah, I don’t know if AK will read about this or not. Anyway, I share with you guys how I destress myself.

Everyone will have their hard time. I do have mine too. I already passed them and I’m sure I gonna face another hard time again. Life is like a wheel. Sometimes you are up, sometimes you are down bottom. You can’t have all bad things all the time or you have all happy things all the time. NO. So what did I do to destress myself?

  1. Always look everything in positively. There must be a reason why those things happen. Usually, the tough thing will build you to be a better one. Did you know that diamond is made up under pressure?
  2. Go eat ice-cream! This is the thing that I always do. Sometimes I will buy the expensive ice-cream then regret it hahaha. But then I would say to myself (it’s okay once in while kan :P) or find another dessert to calm you down. But don’t overeat!
  3. Relax, close your eyes and imagine the good things that you ever had. Remember the amazing trip that you went to. Remember your families’ faces. Remember all the sweet things. Dude, tough time will pass but tough people won’t. 🙂
  4. Listen to music. Or sing your lungs out. Yes Yes Yes. I am my own fan. Even I know people will get ear aches when they hear I sing but this one way to destress myself. Nah IDC.
  5. Take a walk or run the town. I noticed that when I started my running routine every weekend I become less stress. Some research said that the endorphin will be released and the stress hormone will decrease. Endorphine is a happy hormone FYI.
  6. Do something that require your creativity like drawing or knitting. The art therapy can reduce the stress. Here, in the palliative care unit, the doctors encourage the patient to draw and making art to reduce their stress. If you visit here then you can see few drawings by the cancer patients exhibited here.
  7. Try yoga, pilates, or any meditations. If you are a muslim, try to turn back to your God. Maybe He miss you 😉
I still remember this moment. It was an amazing trip. I told myself to remember this view when I face stress situation in future.

Guys, it’s okay to be imperfect. It’s okay that not everything will happen according to your plan. I start to embrace my vulnerabilities and I become more calm. Remember that good things will happen then. POSITIVE! Of course I will cry my lungs out till all the neighbour know what happen haha. Just spill it out, it will lessen the burden. No cry will not crush your ego dude. Crying isn’t a sign of weakness.

Of whatever KEEP CALM and may Allah ease you 🙂
fi emanillah.

Life is a choice & we always choose to have our guilty pleasures.

By on February 11, 2017

Selam aleykum and happy weekend guys 🙂

This weekend I don’t have any plan yet. Iez and I tried to make our freaking last minute plan last night but after almost one-hour discussion we aborted the plan because there is no much time left for us T___T.

We planned to travel to the Black Sea Coast. It just about 5 hours from my city but from Iez’s city, it gonna take about 15 hours by bus. Then we checked the flight ticket but still, the timing is not so suitable for us. *cry*

Btw, Iez is in the northwestern of the country and I am at the northern of the country. Sound like near but this country is freaking big country even our distance from each other is 16 hours by bus 🙁 so last minute plan really doesn’t work for us.

Whatever happen to our plan I know that Allah has a better plan for us. Chill 😉

Iez is looking at the map this morning (don’t know where she decides to go yet) and I am writing this blog now while FaceTiming with Nay our girlfriend who stays at sovereign state now. So, what we will talk about today? I will share you my guilty pleasures and don’t regret it as life is about making a choice…

Thinking of my choices. If I done them right~ (View from my operation room)
  • Since last November, I didn’t finish my intellectual books yet, yes it is because of my final examination. I need to prioritize between the medical books (it’s for my future) and my needs for my brain. Now, right after the exam I had my attachment at the hospital (abroad), it is quite tiring and I still don’t have time to read something (tired mental and physical so need some rest).

I wheedling myself that in order to gain something you must lose something right. So, if I don’t time to read those intellectual books but you focus on your medical knowledge now 🙂

  • And another guilty pleasure is I don’t continue my diet in this country (I will talk later about my diet in another post). This country has a kind of a healthy food which I like it so much. But because of I really need a ton of energy to make me awake during assisting the operations and not to lose focus I eat a lot of carbohydrates (this is against my diet anyway).

Alhamdulillah, here lunch for the surgeons at the hospital are so gooooood, I always eat like a famished person whenever I got the food haha. (No I don’t have time to snap the food’s picture :P)

  • Lastly, is my workout routine. I brought my running suit here okayyyyyy. I planned to run here every evening but guess what I never did it yet. Still need to find the best time.

I was thinking, if I want to run in the morning before going to the hospital it is not gonna happen. HAHA. It is because the sunrise is at 7 a.m. and we need to be at the hospital 7.30 a.m. Nahhhh no time in the morning and I don’t want to run outside before sunrise I think it’s dangerous. If I want to run in the evening, we finished our work usually at 5 p.m and sometimes maybe finished at 7 p.m. Here, the sunset is at 6 p.m. We already tired and no time again. So rest in peace workout for this month.

I will try to work out next weekend. I don’t promise but I’ll try because I hate to see my belly is getting big. Huwaaaa it gross 🙁

Whatever you do, please calculate the risk that it will not harm your life or other. Just don’t make your health become worst like eating a lot of junk food (I don’t buy junk food, I only eat them from my friends hahaha not gonna waste my money for junk anyway).

Even if you don’t have time to workout please don’t just sleep. I will have a brisk walking around the city (if my work at hospital finished early) and do some window shopping to have a good circulation for my body.

Please please please take care of yourself.
This ayah from Quran which I love to share to you.

And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining]. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.

Bookcafe: Shaket Garden City Cafe

By on February 4, 2017

Salam alayk and izzayak?

Jyeahhhh finally got time to write a post. I really want to share about this place. This is unpaid review because I really love the place. Fyi, I want to have my own book cafe in the future insyaAllah. This dream came after I watched a France movie about a girl who works in a book cafe I don’t remember the title but the scene still vividly played in my mind.

I had an expat meet up in Cairo last month. This meet up held quite frequent but because of my commitments I really can’t join all of them. This time I joined them because I want to meet them before I back for good to tanah airku 🙂 After this we hardly meet again I think.

So here I may share a little details about this place. If you have any questions you can comment on this post or email me.

Name : Shaket Garden City Cafe, Cairo

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sh2etgardencity/

How to get there:

  1. Taxi (see the map in their Facebook)
  2. Metro (You can choose either to stop at Saad Zaghloul station or Sadat Metro station because the cafe is near to them about 10 minutes walk)
  3. Drive by yourself.

This book cafe is inside the building. You may not find it from outside, need to walk a bit to find the building. You may see a lift/elevator inside the building. I must mention this lift because we went there at night and the lighting in the lift make it looks stunning. From outside I feel like I was watching a JYP music video (If you Kpop lover you will know what I’m talking about haha). So classic!

But don’t use the lift, just use the stairs and voila you will see the signboard at the first floor of the building. This book cafe is like a house. There are few rooms with different classic decorations. It’s very lovable place to have a meet up, maybe make an assignment or you can even study there. Here, I will show you some pictures that I took.

one of the rooms.
The aisle of the book cafe. There are also books for sale!
This is one of the hall.

They have few beverages and some desserts. The price quite affordable and the waiter is so friendly and a nice guy! Aha, forgot to tell you that there is WiFi too.

I will definitely come here again.

My Overall views:

Place : 9/10

Food: 9/10

Location: 8/10

Price: 8/10

Hospitality : 9/10

Sorry if I just being overrated, but try to go there once. You might fall in love then.

A Little Doctor’s Step.

By on February 1, 2017

Selam alayk and merhaba!

Sorry for not updating. I got too much drafts (too many to talk about) but still trying to find a proper time and a relevant idea to write and publish the drafts.

Alhamdulillah just arrive to a place somewhere in West Black Sea region where I will stay for a month and start my pre-medical practice. It’s kinda awkward to introduce myself to the doctors here because I’m just like one week finished my grand final exam and are now unofficially a doctor. Not a medical student anymore but not yet a doctor. Hahaha it’s nothing but I’m not really ready for it.

As a girl who was born and raised in tropical climate, honestly I’m quite excited to see snow here. It has been snowing for two days since my stay here and I secretly wish it will snow everyday for next 28 days. Hehe Sorry for being selfish. Most people right here prefer summer but I love winter!

This photo was taken this morning before we went to have our breakfast in the next building. See how beautiful the surrounding is. I fall in love already.

Seems like 28 days is not enough to enjoy this view 🙁

Obviously, I am the only one Malaysian here (where on earth I just went to) and I am staying here with my Bolivian friend. Her name is CN. We are here to gain new knowledge about General Surgery and see as much as procedures that we can. Then, we need to do a presentation and share some knowledge about complementary medicine. Still thinking about what to present to them tho.

Plus during our stay, we love to exchange cultures experiences and enjoying local way of life, habits, heritages here.

So, today we went to the hospital (thank you SH for helping us throughout this journey) and SH showed us the way to go to our hospital. Our hospital is GOP University Hospital which is a local hospital that build since 1992. We met our supervisor Dr IO. MasyaAllah he is so welcoming us to the hospital and a very nice doctor. I wish I can learn a lot from him.

After that, we met Dr A and have a little talk with him, then we followed him to watch the endoscopic procedure. Endoscopic procedure is a procedure when the doctor inserts a camera inside your stomach through your mouth to detect any lesion along the way from mouth to stomach. This patient is an old man who complaint of vomiting and during the endoscopic Dr A took some biopsies. He was suspecting this man maybe has a stomach cancer. We can see there is pyloric obstruction from the screen. I hope the uncle is fine. Geçmiş olsun!

Till I need to sleep now. InsyaAllah I will write more later. Thank you for reading 🙂

love from West Black Sea.

XO

World is a book.

By on

Salam and hi all.

It’s been a long time not write here. One post per month. Oh come on, I’m better than this seriously. HAHA. I do have a lot of thing to talk about but I am too lazy to write. After a month came back to my beloved country I gained 4kg. I just keep eating and having a sedentary life. Not so good thing meh.

I went to Kuala Lumpur International Book fair last time and it was my first time after 6 years missed it. How i missed buying books in bulk. You will not imagine how much I spend on books per year. This year I spent almost RM700++ and I wish to finish all of them. Yeah well, I have pretty much spare time.

There are two things that I really love, BOOKS and TRAVEL. When I randomly surfing the internet, I found this quote from Saint Augustine which I like so much. It said,

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” – Saint Augustine

Me long time ago in Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

For me reading is an essential thing that a human being needs to do in his life. Nah, reading is not a hobby. Even the first verse revealed was Al-Alaq  ayah 1 which is;

Recite in the name of your Lord who created

There are so many genre that you can read. Keep on reading as long as it give you good information. I prefer both fiction and non-fiction but for the fiction i don’t prefer the thriller one. Hehe.

I may read a lot of books that different from my belief and principles, but that does not mean that I do embrace another belief. You can read about them and take the good things that may benefit you and your surrounding. I found that few people doesn’t like to read book from other because they afraid that they may change their principle. Or even their belief. Let me give you an example. One may not read something about communism because he afraid that he will become a communist. Oh Please!

When you read something, clear your mind and put aside all your principles. Not to dispose your belief but you should give a time to the author to explain their mind and voice. Not to reject directly the first word that you read. The author may has the explanation for that. Throughout the reading, try to understand and interpret the information with what you already know. Finally, make a conclusion for that. Not just simply invalidate everything. That’s ego.

I would suggest you a book from Mortimer J. Adler, How to Read a Book. This book will give you guidelines for critically reading good and great books of any tradition.

and here.

100 books that you should read before you die.

If you are too lazy to open a physical book. There’s another option too. Ebook, Kindle & at least good article from facebook. If you don’t like to read why don’t you enjoy some good videos like Tedtalk (I will watch them sometimes. They did change my life a lot. I mean A LOT) and listen to the podcast. Come on guys. We are better than this.

Yeah, to a better world.

Read.

In the name of your Lord who created.

Fi emanillah.
